Health

We’re working hard to keep our buildings and campuses safe so you can study, relax and socialise here. We all need to work as a community to keep everyone safe.

If you become ill with COVID-19, are symptomatic, or are informed you need to self-isolate

You must follow government guidelines if you become ill with COVID-19, and you must tell us you’re not well.

You must complete this form if you're symptomatic, are awaiting test results or if you or one of your housemates has tested positive for COVID-19.

You need to let us know so we can best support you. Please find details below of our support offering for students. Visit the gov.uk website for more information on when you should self-isolate.

Support for students who need to self-isolate

If you're informed you need to self-isolate, we want you to know you're not alone. There are a number of support offerings in place to help make sure your wellbeing, course and university experience stay on track.

Once you’ve informed us you’re self-isolating, you'll get a wellbeing call from our Student Hub. The team will call you early in the isolation period to see how you are and will offer to call you again to check in.

The team is on hand to offer further support 24 hours a day and can be contacted via telephone on 023 8059 9599.

Your Student Office will liaise with relevant academic staff to ensure that we continue to support you in your studies. If you are well, you will be given support to continue to study remotely, including access to library materials.

If you are too unwell to engage with your studies, the Student Office will review your circumstances to see whether we will need to submit Special Considerations on your behalf.

We can offer the following support to students depending on their circumstances:

We also encourage you to visit our support and wellbeing webpages for more details on support.

Information for students self-isolating in our halls of residence

If you live in one of our halls of residences and need to self-isolate, once you’ve notified the University, you will be contacted by the Residences Team with further information by email.

All students, dependent on their circumstances, can access the support outlined above.

Students self-isolating in halls are also offered:

We encourage you to visit our Halls Information webpages for more details on how the Residences Team can support you during your period of isolation.

If you’re at a higher risk of getting coronavirus

Please tell us if you’re in a higher risk group so we can support you. Students should contact their personal academic tutors. Staff should contact their line managers.
