CHEM8026 Designing Organic Synthesis

Module Overview

Aims and Objectives

Module Aims

The course is aimed at teaching the skills needed to design total synthesis of organic molecules. Both the knowledge-base of reactions which can be used, and the strategy of their employment will be covered. The development of teamwork skills is a significant aim.

Learning Outcomes

Learning Outcomes

Having successfully completed this module you will be able to:

  • Knowledge of synthetic organic reactions.
  • Strategy of designing total synthesis.
  • Presentation skills including planning.
  • Leadership and teamwork skills

Syllabus

Various synthetic and mechanistic problems.
