Statistics and Operational Research climbs 11 places in the QS World Rankings

Statistics and Operational Research at the University of Southampton have been placed at 37th in the world, climbing 11 places in the QS World Rankings by Subject 2020.

Commenting on the University’s global success in Statistics & Operational Research, Nikos Tzavidis , Professor of Statistical Methodology and Head of Economic, Social and Political Sciences said:

“This ranking provides evidence of the high quality research and education, at Undergraduate, Masters and PhD levels, in Statistics and Operational Research at the University of Southampton. Our academics make up one of the largest groups of statisticians in the UK working on research areas such as design of experiments, survey and official statistics methodology, statistical modelling, biostatistics and policy and evaluation.

Our research is interdisciplinary and impacts government, business and industry. Both S3RI (Southampton Statistical Sciences Research Institute) and CORMSIS (Centre for OR, Management Sciences and Information Systems) are world class centres at the centre of our research activity working alongside the Schools of Economic Social and Political Sciences (Department of Social Statistics and Demography), Mathematics and the Business School.”
