Dr Sarah Fielding
Team Manager Digital Learning

My PhD is in Palaeontology: not dinosaurs, but Late Jurassic Turtles. I have also worked as a freelance science communicator and a learning support tutor for undergraduates with learning differences and mental health issues. I joined the university in 2010 as an Outreach Officer (and then Assistant Regional Director) of the National HE STEM Programme before moving into the field of digital learning in 2012.
In my role in the Digital Learning Team I provide consultancy on module design and use of technology in blended and online; predominantly with Environmental and Life Sciences, and Engineering and Physical Sciences. I project manage the Exploring Our Ocean and Beneath The Blue FutureLearn courses and contribute to online course design and development. I am particularly interested in augmented, 360 and VR technology and its application in education. I am working with media colleagues on pilot versions of digital fieldtrips and I co-ordinate the Immersive Technology in Education network.
I have published and presented at several conferences in relation to both online courses and the development of interactive 360 tours in higher education.
