Training is essential to ensuring that staff are up to date with legislation, have an awarenss of diversity and understand the reasons for supporting equality. To this end, we provide several resources to support these learning needs.

Available resources

Online training

We are pleased to offer an interactive e-learning resource to all members of staff. There are three modules available: Equality and Diversity Briefing, Managing Diversity and Safe and Supported.

All modules are accessed through our Blackboard course. When you first access the course, you will have to enrol by clicking on the '+ Enrol' button on the left. You must do this for your progress to be saved. You are free to log on as often as you like, and the courses can be completed in chunks - each section takes no more than 25 minutes.

Equality and Diversity Briefing in mandatory for all staff and covers the basic training which all staff are expected to know: current legislation and our policies; awareness of minority groups and the issues they face; stereotyping, prejudice and unconscious bias; and promoting an inclusive workplace culture.

Managing Diversity provides further training relevant to anyone with managerial responsibilities. The module includes details on: the business case for diversity; examples of managing staff inclusively; recruiting a diverse team; and supporting flexibility.

Safe and Supported is mandatory for all staff and introduces our safeguarding policy and procedures, the importance of safeguarding and how to spot key signs where safeguarding may be a concern.
