Training and resources

Online training

The University offers online training in equality, diversity and inclusion for staff and some students. All staff must completed the Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Briefing as part of their induction, and will be reminded to complete the training if they haven’t.

We have an optional module, Managing Diversity, that covers topics relevant to line managers.

We also have a video on unconscious bias, which is recommended for staff involved in decision making processes, including recruitment, promotion panels, and management committees.

Library Resources

The University Library has curated a special collection of resources on topics related to Equality, Diversity and Inclusion. You'll find resources on race and ethnicity, disability, gender, sexual orientation and gender identity. The Library welcomes suggestions to grow the collection: fiction or non-fiction, covering topics such as personal expression, disability, socioeconomic background and anything else that shapes our community.

Good Practice guides

The University has access to a range of Good Practice guides and Management Pocketbooks covering different aspects of employment and line management. Details are available from the Leadership and Management website .

Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Resources

As a member of Inclusive Employers, we have access to a large library of resources on equality, diversity and inclusion topics, such a managers’ guides, awareness events and religious holiday briefings and more. If you would like any guidance on a specific topic, just contact the team .

Advance HE offers a comprehensive range of reports into various aspects of diversity and inclusion in higher education, good practice examples from the sector and guidance. They regularly host webinars and networking events on a range of relevant topics, too. The University is a member of Advance HE, which entitles our staff to free or discounted access to their resources and events.
