The Equality Plan

Following a year of development and consultation, the Equality Plan was launched in 2010 to establish the University’s strategy for equality and diversity into 2013. It outlines key targets for each of the protected characteristics, as defined by the Equality Act 2010, and supersedes all previous University equality plans.

The Equality Plan was developed with the support of students and staff from all areas of the University, representing the cross-section of students and staff from various grades and career pathways for each of the diversity groups.

Strategic aims for 2013 were presented to University Council and UEG in March 2011. With the backing of senior management, the Equality Plan provides a structure for improving equality and diversity support for years to come.

From this, the following priorities were agreed for 2011-12:
