LGBT History Month 2012

Following on from last year's very successful LGBT History Month, the University of Southampton is proud to be hosting a range of events throughout February. These events celebrate the occasion, raise awareness of lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans (LGBT) issues, and offer staff and students an opportunity to network - gay, straight, trans and cis alike.
LGBT History films
19:30 every Thursday - L/R B, Nuffield Theatre
SUSU LGBT Society will be showing a range of LGBT history-related films throughout the month, at the usual time of 19:30 on Thursday. All are welcome to join, and feel free to bring your own refreshments.

- 16th February: Aimé and Jaguar Jaguar
- 23rd February: Beautiful Thing
"Born this way?" debate
17:00-18:30 Tuesday 7th February - Observatory, Life Sciences Building (85), Highfield Campus
Are sexual orientation and gender identity biologically determined or are they a choice?
Debra Humphris and the University of Southampton LGBT Network invite researchers from all disciplines to take part in this debate.
LGBT History Workshop
10:00-17:00 Wednesday 15th February - Rm 1145, Avenue Campus
After the great success of last year's LGBT History Workshop,
Mark Cornwall
has curated another excellent programme of lectures, revealing the many facets of gay, queer and trans history.
All people are encouraged to attend, and you are free to come and go to any of the sessions which interest you, starting promptly on the hour

Inaugural "Southampton Stonewall" lecture - Angela Mason: Twenty-five years on: the fight for LGBT rights in the UK

The first of a new annual lecture event, named in honour of the UK's largest gay-rights charity, fittingly featuring Angela Mason, first executive director of Stonewall UK .
