Athena SWAN renewal and five new applications submitted

After months of work from a dedicated, team drawing on expertise across the University, the Athena SWAN Bronze renewal application was submitted on 30 November 2012, alongside five new "departmental" application. Results will be announced in April 2013.
The University was awarded an Athena SWAN Bronze in 2006 and requires renewal every three years. In May this year, the self-assessment team was reformed to carry-out a fresh self-assessment process and create a new Athena SWAN Action Plan for the University. This team will continue to meet to ensure that the action plan is carried out.
Alongside this work, one faculty and four academic units have completed their own self-assessment processes at a more localised level, to investigate how well-embedded the University's gender equality process and initiatives are, and what examples of additional good practice are already in place.
This has required a considerable amount of work for all involved.
The Athena SWAN panels are being convenved and the outcome of the applications is expected in mid-April 2013. In the meantime, two other faculties are continuing to prepare submissions for the April 2013 deadline.
