University of Southampton to host gender equality conference

Published: 18 February 2013

Following a highly-active year of consultations on gender equality and several submissions for Athena SWAN awards, the University of Southampton is hosting a national conference to share best practice and learn from others' experiences in establishing sustainable change in higher education for gender equality.

The conference will offer delegates the opportunity to hear from leaders on creating change in gender equality. Professors Paul Walton ( University of York ) and Yvonne Galligan ( Queen's University Belfast ) will lead the event, followed by several workshops to further explore the issues related to gender equality in higher education and research.

Dr Sean McWhinnie will offer a workshop on "Embedding culture change", the Southampton Law School will share their experiences of the non-STEMM Athena SWAN pilot, and a trainer from WISE will explore the issue of unconscious bias.

Full details of the conference programme are available from the event page . Attendance is free of charge, and can be booked via the event page.
