On 20 March, Parents & Carers Network joined up with the University's Sustainability Action Programme for what is now an established annual event - the Swap Shop.

Around 50 people came in the morning to The Cube to donate pre-loved clothes and accessories, including items for a new children's section. Another wave arrived at lunchtime ready either to swap or to buy. Almost all items thus immediately went to good new homes, rather than landfill.
Co-ordinated by Emma Waight (Geography and Environment), the event also involved SUSU's Ethical & Environmental Committee and the Fashion & Style Society. Emma is a postgraduate researcher into sustainable and ethical consumption, including the impact of parenting.
Money raised has gone to this year's RAG. Just four bags of items remained afterwards for donation to the British Heart Foundation.
