What sort of person is your daughter and where would she fit in best in her future career? In the workshop you’ll explore how her personal strengths can open up many more career choices, especially if she keeps a science and maths in her choices.

This workshop is for girls aged 11-14 accompanied by their Mums (or Grandmothers/female guardians/Aunts!) The workshop uses materials from the WISE Campaign to promote Women in Science and Engineering.

“PEOPLE LIKE ME” – is a revolutionary approach that uses girls’ natural tendency to create and articulate their self-identity with adjectives. It helps them to see how their natural altitudes can lead them to careers where they can be happy and successful working in businesses related to science, technology, engineering or maths (STEM).

"If you want to open girls’ eyes to who they are and how their science and maths can help them access a HUGE variety of roles in the workplace, then this resource is for you!"

Kate Bellingham, Engineer and Broadcaster

During the workshop we will provide you with materials that can show girls that, if they continue with at least one STEM subject post-16, they are likely to have better prospects and more career choice. The activity includes a quiz to show girls where people just like them are happy and successful in their work, which can also be downloaded as a free app from the Apple store.

“Love this app. Really helpful and engaging 8 bit pixel style. Make your own avatar to guide you through your choices in education and careers. Kudos to the team who made this.”
