Event details
Free screening of the Danish Girl
The LGBT Staff Network would like to invite you to come and watch the Danish Girl with us in celebration of the International Transgender Day of Visibility on Thursday 31st March. The day is dedicated to celebrating the accomplishments and victories of transgender & gender non-conforming people while raising awareness of the work that is still needed to save trans lives. The day was founded in 2009 as a reaction to the lack of LGBT holidays celebrating transgender people’s successes.
The Danish Girl is a fictitious love story loosely inspired by the lives of Danish artists Lili Elbe and Gerda Wegener. Lili and Gerda's marriage and work evolve as they navigate Lili's groundbreaking journey as a transgender pioneer.
The showing is free and will commence at 17:30, and the film is 1hr 59 minutes long - the screening is open to all staff and students at the University of Southampton.
