Lucas Verga

First-year PhD student Lucas Verga was awarded with the prize for the Best Poster at last week’s Royal Society of Chemistry’s Theoretical Chemistry Group (TCG) conference.

Held every two years, this year in Nottingham from 20 – 22 June, the TCG conference covers a broad spectrum of theoretical and computational chemistry, including talks by leading international and UK scientists.

Lucas’ poster, titled ‘Effect of graphene support on large Platinum nanoparticles’ beat 14 other posters to take the top prize.

Lucas was presented with his award by Chair of the RSG TCG, Professor Roy Johnston.

On his win, Lucas said:

‘I am very pleased to receive this award, especially given the high quality of the posters at the conference.

Also, the opportunity to present our work and receive positive feedback from international and UK scientists motivates us to keep developing our research and searching for new directions to proceed.’

Lucas is supervised by Professor Chris-Kriton Skylaris FRSC, of Computational Chemistry.
