Career and Leadership Development

This 2 day intensive course (non residential based at Highfield Campus) will provide you with an opportunity to look ahead and build your understanding, skills and confidence in the key areas of career planning, career management and the development of your leadership style.

Course Description

By the end of the course you will:

Using your skills and expertise, the course will explore what is important for you in terms of on-going career development. Working individually and in groups, you will be encouraged to build a clear picture of what you want to do, who you want to be, and how you want to get there. 

This is an experiential course which will help you think through how to make a positive impact in a wide range of situations such as through your CV, when being interviewed, when interacting with others in group activities, and when giving and receiving feedback - all vital elements in successful career progression.

Importantly, by attracting a diverse group of disciplines, this event offers an excellent opportunity for you to build your professional network.

All course costs will be covered by the Doctoral College, but please be aware that, if a participant withdraws at short notice prior to the start or fails to attend during the programme, a charge will be levied - this is due to the high cost of the course per person. Participation in this programme is by application only.

Doctoral researchers in their third or fourth (final) year of candidature, from any discipline, are eligible to apply. Please note that due to the nature of the programme, we have to limit the number of places available. Candidates will be selected on the basis of their application information, and to give a range of places across academic disciplines. To stand the best chance of being allocated a place in this competitive process, please ensure that your application information is as detailed and relevant to the questions as possible.
