Mandatory Training

The Doctoral College has identified a set of training courses which are mandatory for all new doctoral researchers, whatever their discipline.  Follow the guidance and links below to ensure you comply with these compulsory requirements.

Health & Safety Induction

Health and Safety e-learning modules are hosted on Blackboard and can be accessed here. This includes Health and Safety Induction, Fire Safety Awareness and Workstation Assessment which you must complete all of the modules. You will need to use headphones to listen to the videos.

You will also need to follow the specific health & safety guidance/requirements set out by your department/school/faculty.

NB Completion data for this course is recorded and will be tracked by a designated member of staff in your department; the Doctoral College is not able to monitor completions.

 

Equality & Diversity Briefing

Access and complete the University's on-line Equality & Diversity Briefing - this will give you an awareness of current legislation and enhance your understanding of diversity and the reasons for supporting equality. IMPORTANT  You need to enrol by clicking the “+ Enrol” button on the left before the start the course, or your activity will not be tracked.

Teaching or Demonstrating

If you are going to be involved in teaching or demonstrating you will need to undertake threshold training before you begin.
