CV Clinic and Careers Workshops

CV Clinic

Tues 16 May, 11:30 - 13:30 (16 appointments available)
Careers Centre, Building 37, Highfield Campus.

Whether you are thinking of pursuing a career in or outside of academia, we think it is fair to say that everyone could use some help with their CV.

What is the best way to list your experience? What should you include or leave out? If you are applying for roles outside of academia, how do you relate the skills you have learnt throughout your PhD to other career paths?

You can book an 15-minute appointment with an experienced Career Practitioner using the MyCareer button below.

Please note: If you are unable to attend, please log back in to MyCareer and cancel your appointment so it is available for another postgraduate researcher.

MyCareer

Workshop - What is a career and how do you manage it?

10 May, 15:00 - 15:30
25 May, 10:00 - 10:30

Can you plan your career, or is it just something that emerges as you travel through life? This 30 minute bite-size talk will try to answer this question and along the way:

This session will be led by Rob Wood, the Career Practitioner assigned to work with the Doctoral College in facilitating professional development sessions and coaching for PhD candidates and Post-Doctoral Researchers.

He is fascinated by the history and development of the concepts of work and career and how we as individuals can take ownership of our career development in a fast changing economic environment that continually re-shapes the world of work.
