The Optics and Photonics Society are running a number of activities to celebrate the UNESCO International Day of Light , an international United Nations observance.
Posters at the ready!
OPSoc is looking for submissions for the poster competition to celebrate the first International Day of Light.
Entry details:
- All PGRs who use light in some way in their research can enter
- Suitable for a lay audience
- Displayed at the International Day of Light Public Forum
This is a great opportunity to gain valuable experience in communicating your research outside of academia!
There will be three prizes of £50 Amazon vouchers awarded to the best posters.
To enter, please email a PDF version of your poster to Neda Baktash ( nb4g15@soton.ac.uk ) by the 4th May – the Optics and Photonics Society will cover the printing cost of the first 15 entries.

- Public forum showcasing applications of light in a variety of disciplines.
- Panel discussion on the importance of light
- Reception in which doctoral students will display posters showing the role of light in their work (refreshments included).
