What made you choose to study at Southampton?

I had heard good things about the course and the community from those who had gone the year before me.

What’s Southampton like as a place to study?

It’s an incredibly friendly and collaborative environment. I realised all my experiences with people who were part of the uni, whether that be from the course, society or extra-curricular activity, were incredibly friendly and warm. Needless to say, I’m sure I have made friends for life from my time at Southampton.

What were your Southampton ‘highlights’?

My highlight is the entirety of my third year journey. The incredibly interesting workload and modules, the array of leadership activities I was involved in and the fantastic people I worked with. The opportunities and challenges we took all came together to provide so many memories that I am extremely fond of. My friends and I spent late nights revising and preparing for our modules; but even then, we made sure to go out and relax together a few times a week – we really got the best of both worlds and made the most of our final year together.

What did you enjoy most about your course?

I enjoyed my third year modules the most, especially the dissertation. Whilst the workload was challenging, they were also incredibly interesting; so overcoming the challenges each module presented became a really interesting and engaging process.

What opportunities did you take up within your degree programme?

I was involved in a range of extra-curricular activities throughout my time at Southampton. As for leadership activities, I was the President and Co-Chairman of the Southampton Economics Society and Department of Economics President. These leadership experiences really helped build my confidence and also helped me realise my passion for taking on a role which allows me to represent a community I am a part of. I really enjoyed the ability to not only voice their concerns and praises, but also collaborate with students and staff to work together on building actions that would address any comments that were presented with.

What other activities did you take advantage of?

I also did three internships over my undergraduate degree. The first was the Business Innovation Programme; a really interesting and hands-on project that has not only contributed significantly to helping me on my career path but really strengthened my soft skills such as time management, presenting and working with clients.

What are you up to now and what’s your ambition?

I am currently an MSc student studying MSc Economics and Strategy for Business at Imperial College Business School. At the uni, I am also an equity research analyst within our investment fund and am eager to pursue a career in equity research or asset management after I graduate.
