The future of work
Professor Alison Fuller and colleagues across the university are investigating the changing nature of work and employment
The
Work Futures Research Centre
's leading reputation and research capabilities mean that we are very well placed to address the Work Futures agenda, which will be steered by top academics from the Schools of Education, Social Sciences and Health Sciences, bringing together specialists and researchers from across the University to explore the changing
world of work.
The focus will be on challenges such as the present economic recession, the emerging digital economy, workplace learning and development, environmental pressures, public sector restructuring, the ageing workforce and shifting patterns of economic migration. These challenges raise important questions for academic, public and policy debate, and demand innovative multidisciplinary and multi-method projects involving partnerships between employers, trade unions, policy makers and researchers.
