Developing Inquiry Skills across the Curriculum: a Project with the Mary Rose Trust

Mathematics and Science Learning Centre, Southampton Education School

Teachers spent a day at the Trust on Wednesday 23rd October, developing resources and approaches for inquiry. Teachers had previously visited researchers at University of Southampton to find out how they use inquiry skills in their daily work linked to aspects of the conservation of the Mary Rose. On Wednesday, the researchers worked alongside the teachers at the
new museum facility
to plan innovative inquiry approaches using the resources and work of the Trust.
During the next term and a half, teachers will work in schools to further develop the resources and evaluate the efficacy of the approach with pupils; action research methods will be used in the classroom to achieve this.
