Professor Sarah Parsons, from the School’s Centre for Research in Inclusion, was invited to give the inaugural keynote for the South East Special Educational Needs and Disability Network at St. John’s College in Brighton on September 20th 2018.

The SE SEND Network is part of an initiative from the Chartered College of Teaching to support schools to work together in order to share practice and collaborate around research in order to achieve the best outcomes and experiences for pupils.

Sarah talked about her work leading the Autism Community Research Network @Southampton [ACoRNS] which is a research and practice partnership between Education and Psychology at the University, and schools and colleges in the local community. ACoRNS identifies research questions that are important to practitioners and works collaboratively to answer those questions and feed back to schools. Project summaries are freely available from the ACoRNS website. The first ACoRNS paper from some of this work has now been published, with more to come!
