Dr Azaola invited to speak at a conference at the National Autonomous University of Mexico

Dr Marta Cristina Azaola from Southampton Education School, was invited to speak at the seminar entitled 'Belonging, exclusion and inequality at school', that was held on the 29th of October 2018 in the Unidad de Seminarios Dr Ignacio Chavez, at the National Autonomous University of Mexico.

Academics from different institutions analysed topics related to youth and upper-higher education in Mexico such as: access and drop out; differences between urban and rural institutions; curriculum; as well as stigmas and violence associated with deprived schools. In her presentation, Cristina analysed tutors’ perceptions about the use of excessive rules and discipline in deprived high schools in Mexico and its impact on the belonging experiences of students.
