The QS World Rankings by Subject 2019 have been announced, placing Southampton Education School in the top 100 in the world and 15th in the UK.

Commenting on the University’s success in Education, Professor Martin Dyke, Head of Southampton Education School, said “We are delighted to have moved into the QS rankings for the top 100 in the World.  This adds to our UK ranking of  2nd in the UK Guardian League Table 2019 and 7th in the UK for Research Impact in the 2014 Research Excellence Framework.  These rankings reflect our teaching and research excellence which is organised around our core themes of Educational Effectiveness and Equity. These themes are focused on making a difference in education that has a positive impact on learning, achievement  and employment outcomes.  Our research and education is inclusive and covers all aspects of lifelong learning from Primary, Secondary, Further, Higher Education,  Work-based Education and informal learning.  These rankings reflect the hard work, commitment and professionalism of our colleagues, it is good to see their reputation extending across the world.”

The University’s performance in Education, and other areas the University features in the world’s top 100, is powered by its continued improvement in reputational rating in a number of areas. These include our reputational rating amongst academic peers and employers around the world, good scores for research citations and ‘h-index’, which measures the productivity and impact of work published by scientists and scholars in the subject.

This year’s results in the QS subject rankings continue to build on the University’s strong showing in the QS World University Rankings 2019 (published last June) where Southampton regained its place amongst the world’s top 100 institutions, in 96th place overall.
