Professor Martin Dyke, Head of Southampton Education School, commented: “Graduate employment  is very important to us.  Our graduates work in many careers both within and beyond schooling. They work as teachers in schools, colleges and universities. We have graduates working in Museums, Libraries, hospitals, science centres, and within training departments for large companies.

Education as a subject has one of the strongest graduate employment rates in the UK.  We  provide opportunities for work related learning  projects in our modules and assessment that can enable our students to build their CV and strengthen their employability.   We work hard to support our students with their transition from higher education to employment and the data on graduate employment suggests that are strategy and our graduates are working.”

Every year the Higher Education Statistics Agency (HESA) completes the Graduate Outcomes survey. This national survey takes place around 15 months after students graduate and records what they go on to do.

Results from the latest graduate outcomes survey (2017/2018) show that graduates from BSc Education and, BSc Education and Psychology, achieved a 100% employment rate. This means that 100% of students, who responded to the survey, were employed or undertaking further study fifteen months after graduation.

Graduates went on to achieve a typical professional level starting salary of £24,000, fifteen months after graduation.
