#BePartOfTheSolution - Young people play their part in public health messaging

Published: 21 April 2021

As the restrictions on our lives start to ease, the need for us all to continue to do the right thing is the message behind a series of films that have been developed by young people across the south. Funding from the Southampton City Council COVID-19 Innovations Grant enabled young people to find their voice through film, and play their part in public health messaging.

Eight short films have been produced either by young people from the Southampton Children’s Hospital Youth Ambassador team or groups of students who helped in their co-creation supported by LifeLab – a unique, state-of-the-art teaching laboratory dedicated to improving adolescent health by giving school students opportunities to learn first-hand the science behind the health messages.

Each film reflects on the importance of us all continuing to look after each other. Sticking to the rules, playing it safe, mental health and the impact of Covid on our lives have all been brilliantly illustrated by these teenage film makers and developers using animation, poetry and storytelling.
