This is an event for all science subject leaders in Kent to attend a briefing meeting to find out about a new funded professional development programme.
The Mathematics and Science Learning Centre, University of Southampton, is designing and implementing a professional development programme to support schools in increasing progression rates in science. The programme will involve a range of support including face-to-face PD, online support and webinars, subject knowledge enhancement plus (SKE+) in physics and chemistry and the formation of key network groups.
The professional development programme is being funded by, and developed with, Kent County Council, School Improvement Advisers, the Kent & Medway Science Learning Partnership (SLP) led by Simon Langton Grammar School for Girls, and other local partners.
A recent online survey was designed to gather information on school, department and individual priorities. It identified areas of priority for professional development and will form the basis of initial provision of support for schools. If you have not yet completed the survey, you can find the link at https://www.isurvey.soton.ac.uk/9912.
A key aspect of the programme is to provide subject leaders and staff with approaches and tools to engage with, and evaluate the impact of, professional learning.
