Event details

In curriculum 2014 much of what we currently know as “Scientific enquiry” is embedded in the newly titled “Working Scientifically”. However, there are changes and additions to the enquiry aspects of the new curriculum. This practical course outlines what these changes are and offers suggestions on how best to teach them. Suitable for KS1 and KS2 Teachers and Science Subject Leaders.

This practical course outlines the changes and additions to the enquiry aspects of the new curriculum and offers suggestions on how best to teach them. Ideas and activities using all the different types of enquiry at each key stage, as outlined in the new document, form a large part of the day. Participants will also have the opportunity to familiarise themselves with continuity and progression in each different type of enquiry.

Outcomes

  • Describe the difference between “scientific enquiry” and “working scientifically”
  • Know a host of “working scientifically” ideas and activities suitable for their children
  • Understand what progression looks like in all types of enquiry and use this understanding to differentiate more effectively

Teachers will leave with the ‘Working scientifically in curriculum 2014’ pack produced by Primarily Science - this can then be freely adapted to suit the needs of individual schools.
