We are holding an open event for schools and teachers interested in finding out more about the innovative LifeLab Education programme. LifeLab is a science education intervention designed to change young people’s attitudes and behaviour towards their own health, and the health of their future children, through a hands-on, science-oriented teaching package. Through hands-on learning, we hope to empower young people to make healthier choices and reduce their risk of developing chronic diseases (such as heart disease and diabetes) later in life. This hands-on approach to learning breaks down boundaries, makes science accessible, and brings it to life; inspiring children to consider careers in healthcare, science, and medicine.
You are invited to come along and find out more about the LifeLab programme and how your school can participate. You can explore our dedicated laboratory facilities at Southampton General Hospital, and try out some of the activities available to pupils. You will be able to talk to our teachers and staff who will address any questions you might have.
We are currently recruiting schools for a randomised, controlled trial (RCT) to evaluate the impact of the programme. Schools taking part in the programme receive the LifeLab scheme of work, teacher CPD sessions, visit to the laboratory and follow-up events. Come along to find out more.
