Event details
We will be looking and and trying some activities from two different STEM resource and attendees will receive one of each resource for their schools.
Maths Magic - A STEM learning and teaching resource that explores a variety of magical maths activities, from multiplication tips to card tricks - linking to curriculum areas of working mathematically, number and algebra. We will have a go at some of the tricks!
Engineering our Existence - This resource box contains resources explore how different indigenous populations have used engineering to allow them to live in extreme environments and what we can learn from these solutions. They also explore some modern engineering solutions to living in extreme environments. There are 3 mini projects each based around an 'extreme' - Desert, Monsoon and Sub Zero; we will be trying activities - Cloud in a jar, Hands-free umbrella and Inuit Igloo engineering.
The meetings are an opportunity to get some FREE training on STEM resource boxes designed by the Royal Academy of Engineering for KS2 and 3 pupils (adaptable for KS1), and other CPD by request! Attendees at training sessions will receive a free resource box with enough resources to run the activities (9-12 in a box linked to a theme) with 30 pupils. All resource boxes contain curriculum-mapped instructions, templates and student sheets.
