Science meets science education: Forming partnerships to enhance science education in New Zealand communities Seminar
Event details
Forming partnerships to enhance science education in New Zealand communities. In association with Mathematics & Science Education research Centre.
Speaker: Ms Jacquie Bay, University of Auckland, New Zealand
Formed in 2006, LENScience is a collaborative partnership between science education and scientists in New Zealand. LENScience projects over the past four years have shown that this partnership is challenging community perceptions of science and scientists, and enabling the sharing of scientific research with New Zealand communities that would traditionally not be connected with science. This seminar gives an overview of programmes within LENScience that explore the nature of science and communicate the work of New Zealand scientists within local communities.
