Changes in the management of UK Universities Seminar
Event details
The relationship between organizational climate and the role stress of academics. In association jointly between Quantitative Methodologies and CHEMPaS Special Interest Groups.
Over the last few decades, there have been substantial changes to the university academic environment. Economic constraints on government and funding agencies have meant that universities have faced increased accountability measures. The Vice Chancellor has become more CEO-like - referring to the university as a corporation - and staff have become more like a resource to be allocated and managed in the same manner as the organization’s multi-million pound budget. This seminar reports the findings a recent quantitative study into the effect of these management changes on the organizational climate, role stressors and the satisfaction of academic staff. In addition to the studies findings, the presentation briefly discusses the methods that where used to analyze the participants responses.
