Exploring the relationship between individual educational attainment, school performance and location

In this seminar, Ruth explores the relationship between individual educational attainment, school performance and location in England. She draws upon her work with the National Equalities Panel so as to understand trends in educational attainment at the school level in terms of trends in local labour markets. She provides indicative answers to the question of whether some schools struggle to increase attainment because they are positioned in labour markets that are either declining or are restructuring in ways that work against educational aspiration and achievement.

The seminar is presented in association with the Lifelong and Work-related Learning Research Centre.
