This paper considers whether differences in welfare 'regime' (Esping-Anderson, 1990), the structure of the higher education system, and pervasive assumptions about gender relations have any discernible impact on the way in which student-parents are both constructed within institutional policies and assisted by institutional policies and assisted by institutional practices. In developing its argument, the paper draws on analysis of relevant policy documents and in-depth interviews at four different universities in the UK and Denmark.
Who should attend?
The seminar will be relevant to a wide variety of staff and students.
