Time:
13:00 - 14:00
Date:
6 March 2012
Venue:
Building 32 room 2097 All welcome Tea and Coffee provided

Event details

The seminar will look at employability of of graduates and how they fit within the estate agency business. The seminar will be relevant to a wide variety of staff and students.

Questions arise as to how well university education prepares graduates for jobs and what role their skills have in recruitment and the labour process. The presentation draws on findings from an ESRC-funded research project on a new graduatising occupation: real estate agents. Tentative analysis of interviews with estate agents and their employers suggest that the skills needed to work as an estate agent do not correspond well with what traditionally are seen as graduate skills.
