The session will review the past, present and future of higher education in further education colleges in England. With the student-led funding system introduced by the Coalition government, colleges are party to an experiment in which they compete with universities on price and quality in annual auctions for student places. If competition between colleges and universities is the expense of collaboration, then diversion rather than democratisation is a likely outcome for students.
The seminar will be relevant to a wide variety of staff and students
