Synthesising finding from the TIMSS and PISA international study series illuminates the impact of recent systemic reform on aspects of student attainment and attitude in the English education system, and identifies key weaknesses. Triangulating recent meta-analytic research syntheses identifies some promising lines of pedagogical development, and other lines deserving deeper analysis or further investigation.
