Mathematics and Science Education Research Centre The seminar will be relevant to a wide variety of staff and students.
Research into the teaching of mathematics at university level is a relatively new but growing field of study. This seminar describes the use of a theoretical framework for analysing an individual lecturer's resources, orientations and goals.
The analysis of lecturers (and group discussion) revealed underlying in-the-moment decisions made by lecturers and the related teacher-mathematician tensions. This anlysis points to a potential model for lecturer professional development arising from the process that could be applicable across different disciplines.
