Southampton Education School Research Seminar Series

Psychological theories of writing generally characterise it as a process of discovery. This seminar will describe a dual-process model of writing, in which discovery is assumed to be a consequence of an interaction between explicit thinking processes and implicit text production processes. It will present the results of recent keystroke logging and priming studies which provide broad support for the model. The implications of the model for the teaching of writing will be discussed
