Unframed knowledge and academic disciplines: the experience of Educational Studies Seminar

This talk will explore issues of framing and unframing in relation to Educational Studies, an ensemble of disciplines which might be thought well placed to encounter the 'urgent issues' of educational conflict which are striking features of the present. It will argue that Educational Studies has preferred the quest for disciplinary security to the intellectual and institutional risks involved in 'unframing' the established order of knowledge. In this, it may be typical of other social science disciplines.
