Southampton Education School Research Seminar Series
Education reforms in England since 2000 created academies, the number of which has since grown strongly. Many academies are run by a single sponsor, thus creating chains of schools. This seminar will report on a mixed methods study of the functioning and effectiveness of these chains, with a focus on the extent of central control and autonomy in these chains.
