Since the advent of computing, simulations have been an important application of information technology, in business, science and in education.
In this lecture I will address the main ideas and benefits of using simulations in science education, their design principles and present and discuss several systems for authoring educational simulations. Finally I will present and discuss modelling approaches in which the learner is put in the position of the simulation designer.
