Event details
In the current system working class students learn first and foremost that they are not very good at education and that their failure to perform well academically and achieve success is the result of their own lack of effort and ability.
Symbolic domination works powerfully through such individualised processes. This paper explores the experiences of working class students in English education, examining the processes of symbolic domination that position the working classes as 'losers' in the educational game.
