Why are ethnic minority applicants to Russell Group universities less likely to be offered places than their comparably qualified White peers? Drawing on UCAS data, this paper challenges the claim that ethnic minority applicants are simply less well qualified, and presents evidence suggests that admissions selectors may be unfairly rejecting some applicants unfairly in an attempt to avoid admitting 'too many' ethnic minority students.
