Education seminar
Students entering university for their first year are typically adjusting to many changes. These learners also arrive with a range of experiences and expectations. Consequently, teaching first year undergraduates can be quite challenging. This session describes the learning experiences that were included in the teaching of two first year modules with students from both within and outside Education. The particular examples were designed to involve and engage the interest of students, draw upon their beliefs, ideas and backgrounds and were constructed in a manner that aligned with the assessment requirements of the module(s).
