A teaching and learning seminar
Through Vygotsky's work we know the value of talking with others to develop thought, language and understanding which is very different to the stereotyped image of a university lecture. Equally, experience tells us that some groups and individuals can take time to respond positively to such an approach. This practical seminar will use a range of interactive methods, ranging from more familiar techniques such as jigsaw grouping and mind mapping, to possibly less familiar ones such as thermoevaluators and Plickers. We will use these to explore ways of encouraging both undergraduate and postgraduate students to discuss, debate and interact in sessions to enable effective learning. We will include some ideas for using IT so please bring an internet enabled device.
