Event details

This talk offers an insight of system instructional leadership (SIL) to illuminate its emergence and application within a self-improving school system. A qualitative case study design is adopted for an in-depth exploration of instructional leadership in multi-units within two emerging MATs. Among the key findings of this study is the evolving multi-unit instructional leadership role of the MAT senior leaders as well as its organic leadership philosophy. Building capacity for pedagogical growth and leadership development is a key element of knowledge creation and improvement through MATs’ internal and external synergies. The research findings will provide valuable insight into the nature and impact of policy initiatives at the heart of system leadership within a self-improving system in England. The study also adds theoretical significance grounded in comparative empirical research within an under-researched area.
