Bourdieu, Reflexivity and Method Seminar

Event details

I want to consider applications of Bourdieu’s theory of practice to educational research. I will look at the history of his work, my own examples and the implications all this has for using his ideas. Since reflexivity is a popular aspect of educational research practice, I want to consider what this means for those using Bourdieu. The key message of the talk is that Bourdieu has been rather misused and there is a better way of adopting his approach. I hope the talk will shed some light on Bourdieusian practice for those who are interested in using his approach, and possibly get others to reconsider their own research projects in terms of his method.
