The Education School invites you to attend our research seminar! If you are interested in attending, please contact us at EducationFOS@soton.ac.uk. This talk will discuss research into university-business collaborations that seeks to better understand how the processes of interaction between university and business participants shape the learning that takes place within them, a hitherto under-researched area. The research examines collaborations from across the University of Oxford, in which academics engaged with a wide range of businesses from public, private and third sectors. Collaborative learning is dynamic, requiring positive and agile relationships to be maintained, particularly when faced with challenges or opportunities to exploit unforeseen learning. Findings deliver insights into the nature of collaborative learning and the key underlying factors that influence collaborative learning within university-business relationships. The findings suggest that a better understanding of interpersonal processes within collaborations can improve both academic engagement and effectiveness in collaborative activities but that this also needs to be supported by further development of university policies and practices."
