Hi, I'm Amelia Joseph and I studied PGCE Primary within Southampton Education School at the University of Southampton.

I have been put in great schools for my placement and this has really set me up for my future career as a primary teacher. I was also lucky enough to travel to Kenya and teach over there. This was an incredible experience that I will remember for the rest of my life!

Why did you choose to come and study at Southampton?

The University had a great reputation for the PGCE Primary course. I have also lived in Southampton for several years and loved being able to study close to home.

What is it like studying here?

Southampton University is welcoming and they supported me with my extra learning needs. The facilities are good, with a great assisted technology room in the library. The city is a great place to study and hopefully work in the future as a Primary Teacher. My University mentor has been very supportive though this tough year for me. I have found that the Student Support services have helped me greatly with my learning differences.

What have been your Southampton ‘highlights’ so far?

I have been put in great schools for my placement and this has really set me up for my future career as a primary teacher. Working with the University Mentors and my fellow classmates has been an great experience. I was also lucky enough to travel to Kenya and teach over there. This was an incredible experience that I will remember for the rest of my life!
